Her life changed, after being active for so many years, Amanda Dunbar began to put on weight. She was in search of something to keep her active though she spent nearly a year on crutches or in a cast. Before Amanda Dunbar could settle on what she was going to do, she needed to get back in shape. Amanda Dunbar therefore decided that it was time get herself to the gym and beginning again to weight-lift. Her progress would propel her into the world of bodybuilding.
“I competed in my first bodybuilding competition at 21 and was very pleased how I looked on stage. I dieted/trained myself for that competition which was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. It took so much time and dedication, not just for training/cardio, but to figure out how my body works and responds to different foods/diets. Once I saw what I looked like on stage at my first show, I realized how much I had accomplished and how much I really loved bodybuilding.” Dunbar gushes.
Her accomplishments thus far include the 2013 IFBB Europa Show of Champions where Amanda placed third. In 2005 at the NPC USA she placed first in Light Heavyweights and overall- it was there where she earned Pro Card. In 2004 at the Jr. Nationals Dunbar placed second in Light Heavyweights. In 2003, Jr. Nationals- 3rd Middleweight, 2002 in the Southern States, National Qualifier, she earned second.
