“I grew up in a small town, and then out in the BUSH.lol raising pigs and chickens and stuff.  When I think about it now, I lived in poverty, always wore hand-me-down clothes, never was able to do anything like Girl Guides and stuff.  It really wasnt something we really thought about though until we were older. I was a pure tomboy back then.  I built forts in trees, ran around topless until about the age of 10 lol..  I wore boys clothes for many years later, NEVER a dress lol.. you can barely get me in a dress now hehehe.  I wasnt well liked in school nor did I care.  I guess boxing was my calling since I fought lots in school.  The most memorable fight was grade 8 where I got my nose broken. We must have fought for 20 min straight it felt like, ending up with me mounted on top of her raining down punches until the principal came by.  The broken nose was a small sacrifice for the respect I got from the gal I got after lol.  To this day, She says hi and is very respectful. LOL.

I have competed in Boxing and wrestling since 1995.  A year after my daughter was born.  My first boxing fight I KO’d the chick in 1:35 of the first round!! I knew I was destined to compete!.  In wrestling Im undefeated, winning the Western Canadian Wrestling Championships in 2007, and recently winning silver in the 2008 Championships.  With my boxing background I had 10 ametuer fights… 6 wins, 4 loses, and 3 wins by KO.  I have had 3 toughman fights (3KO) which I could have won with my eyes closed lol.  I have also had one MMA fight which showed me Im not as young as I think I am lol.  Which I will get to why…. in a moment.  What brought me to bodybuilding was boxing.  Having to cut weight to make it to the Canadian Nationals(boxing), I went to the gym to use the treadmill,  there I ran into a personal trainer named Wayne Henderson and he said he must have me to train.. with NO payment!  He loved my physique.. well lets just say potential !!  I was horrible back then!!
I trained for a couple of years, competing in a few shows… never winning too big except for the strongwomen competitions.. www.femsport.tv  At the gym I met my husband Mike Desmarais, my best friend, training partner and love of my life.  (We got MARRIED at the 2005 Mr.O)  We have gone to all the Mr. Olympia weekends since then..  I competing in the battle of the biceps 2006 … lol.. I would have won 1st!!  I tied for first and the tiebreaker was the size of your biceps!! well Im small!!! 5′4 130 pounds.. so 13 1/2 in biceps way back then didnt win lol.. she was huge!!
Back to training… (2006) at this years Mr.O my husband won the Vyotech Honda CRB 1000cc motorcycle.. and just after he won it, we ran into a huge man of a freak!!! MR. DAVE PALUMBO himself.  wow what a man.  So we asked him if he trained people and yes.. Toney Freeman just to name one!! so from then on he has trained us and wow!! I went from good physique to awesome!!!  That man knows miracles!  So with that under my belt I went to the Shawn’ Ray Colorado Pro/Am this year…2007 and won the ametuer lightweight class and OVERALLS for the womens bodybuilding!  Next on my plate was the BC Provincials July 21st.  I won the middle weight class. I then competed at the August femsport show.. a strength show and I won 1st overalls again!  From there I will be taking the whole year off except for femsport in August to gain as much muscle before competing for my procard at the North Americans in Cleveland, Ohio August 29th, and if needed, which I wont!!!… the Canadian Nationals September 6th 2008.  There for sure I will win my procard because of the incredible size I have gained under the supurb diet plan of Dave Palumbo.
My life has not been all but peachy… As a child I had pheumonia many times, Asthma.. which I finally might have grown out of, and then one of 2 bad surgeries.. at 15, I had a cyst on my intestines. It took 3 months in the hospital to diagnose.  I had abdominal surgery and went from a healthy 130 pds to 95 pounds!!! then Years later… now I mean only 1 1/2 years ago.. I broke my back.  I did it training and wrestling for a MMA fight I had pain down my leg all the time.  Thought I just tore something. ..lol.. well I went on and had my fight… lost to a split decision.. Im a boxer, and wrestler.. ( I had NO jujitsu training back then like I wish I had now lol).. We just rolled around for 3 rounds…I escaped many armbars lol.. anyways.. the back KILLED after the fight.  went to the Doc and yep broken, more likely from training and then really noticed it after the fight.  I Broke the Pars de interarticulates.. off of my L5…. laymans terms.. the little spiny bones off your vertebrae,… but one was broken into the vertebrae…where the spinal cord was… so I had surgery…. 4 screws, 2 plates a new vertebrae disk, a bone graft off my hip…along with 3 pulmonary embolisms (blood clots in the lungs) and pheumonia!!! talk about close to death!!  So even that didn’t stop me.. I was in the gym 10 days later pedaling SLOWLY on the bike.. had to do something!!!
NOT 5 months after surgery (which 3 of those months I was in a backbrace still) I was on stage at the Western Canadian Naturals taking 1st PLACE!!!  in the middleweight class.  Talk about ambicious!!!  Well that all about tells you my life story and how nothing keeps me down!!
Here is a quote from Mark Twain which I live by:  Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the things you did.  So throw off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbour.  Catch the trade winds in your sail.  Explore, dream, discover.”

yours truly,

~Roseanne Desmarais

For some women on this list, appearing in Playboy might be the highlight of their athletic career. For Haley Cope, however, she’ll have something else to show except for some salacious snapshots.

Haley Cope, another one of the sexy athletes featured in the 2004 “Women of the Olympics” edition, was a pretty good backstroke swimmer for Team USA. She was the 50 meter world champion in 2001, and at the 2004 Athens Games she was part of the relay team that won the silver medal.

Lucky for us, Playboy caught the Olympic medalist doing some skinny-dipping.

Susen Tiedtke-Green might need performance-enhancing drugs to compete with the women at the Olympics, but she doesn’t need any artificial assistance to become a female athlete in Playboy.

The three-time Olympian, who did test positive for steroids in her career, made her most notable appearance in the Olympics in 2004 when she posed for Playboy’s “Women of the Olympics” edition right before.

Susen Tiedtke-Green has been more focused on modeling of late, and it doesn’t take more than a first look to understand why. The tall blonde is easy on the eyes and has some physical similarities to fellow German model Claudia Schiffer.

There are more than a few hockey players that seem to attract the sexy female celebs: Mike Comrie reeled in Hilary Duff, Jarret Stoll netted Rachel Hunter and Petr Schastlivy drafted Olympian Ineta Radevica.

Ineta Radevica, a Latvian track and field athlete, was in the “Women of the Olympics” edition in September 2004. The tall, slender and sexy blonde was in perfect shape for her photos, and it’s safe to say you wouldn’t kick her out of bed for eating crackers.

Ineta Radevica is a two-time NCAA triple jump champion, but her best Olympic finish was 13th.

Finding females who truly adore sports is like finding a good Anna Faris movie: there just aren’t that many out there. Speaking of Anna Faris: she made the cover of Playboy’s September 2008 issue.

Anita Marks, an authentic sports doter, is one of those rare finds. She grew up playing football with the boys and eventually quarterbacked two women’s professional football teams, the Miami Fury and the Florida Stingrays.

After playing under center, Anita Marks did the Playboycenterfold in 2002. It was at this point that she earned a bid into the guy’s Hall of Fame, but she’s still waiting on the call from the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Anita Marks now hosts a daily drive-home show on ESPN Radio in Baltimore.

Making the cut in Playboy’s “The Women of the Olympics” spectacular, which ran right after the 2004 Olympic Summer Games in Greece finished up, was a relatively obscure athlete from Hungary named Fanni Juhasz.

Although she might have been an underdog in stature, the sexy pole vaulter posed like a pro. Her nude pictorial included a picture with her and her 15-foot pole on the beach.

Her Olympic career didn’t amount to much, which makes this one of her most notable accomplishments while representing Hungary.

BIOGRAPHY

Born July 16, 1977, in Havana, Cuba, and raised in Miami, Florida, Carmen Garcia spent much of her youth struggling with an eating disorder. “My desire to gain weight was always prominent but I just couldn’t work up a normal appetite in my growing years,” she recalls. “Not to mention the fact that I’ve always had a fast metabolism and I’ve always been the hyperactive type.”

Carmen Garcia tried extreme measures to add weight to her skinny frame, but nothing she did seemed to work. “In high school, I began to eat a lot junk food and still no weight gain!” she says. “The years rolled by and finally I began to see a little gain but it was not muscle gain. It was flab!”

That’s when Carmen Garcia decided to take control of her body and she joined a local gym where bodybuilders and trainers took the time to teach her how to shape her physique. Carmen took their lessons to heart and she soon began pumping iron and even became a certified aerobics instructor. “That’s how my body transformed itself,” she explains.

CARMEN GARCIA IN PLANET MUSCLE

However, it wasn’t until she moved to Los Angeles to become a private personal trainer that Carmen Garcia considered plunging headfirst into the competitive world of modeling. “I picked up an issue of Bob Kennedy’s Oxygenmagazine and the cover model really inspired me!” she recalls. “I had realized that you don’t have to be super young and super thin to start a modeling career.” That inspiration led Carmen Garcia to find an agent and she soon began appearing in a number of prestigious magazines such as Just SwimsuitsMusclemag InternationalAmerican Curves,Planet MuscleMuscular DevelopmentHot BoatsLow Rider, and Iron Man Magazine, among others.

CARMEN GARCIA ON SEX WARS

Carmen Garcia’s dazzling print work led to a number of other opportunities and she was featured on television shows such as Club IndustrySex Wars and Jack and the Girls, as well as in a handful of music videos like the Sugar Ray hit “When It’s Over.”

CARMEN GARCIA THE PERSONAL TRAINER

Carmen Garcia is a working fitness and swimwear model as well as a personal trainer who helps others achieve their fitness goals. “It took me years to finally gain lean muscle in all the right places and getting to know my body,” she says.

Carmen Garcia has been actively participating in the health and fitness field for the past 10 years as a certified trainer and lifestyle fitness consultant. She is certified by the U.S. Personal Trainer’s Association (USPTA), CPR Certified, a USPTA student examiner, and also an IDEA-fit member. Carmen Garcia understands the benefits of healthy living and working out and so has dedicated herself to promoting a healthy lifestyle to those around her and helping her clients achieve their goals.

“My Story
I had always been athletic. As a child I grew up playing competitive softball and field hockey, as well as being an avid swimmer and horseback rider. In high school I turned my attention to running and participated in both varsity and cross country track all four years.

I continued my running career into my freshman year at college, before deciding I had lost my competive drive in cross country. At the end of my freshmen year I made the decision not to return to collegiate sports.
I discovered the weight room at age 19, and despite being a stringy 5′6″ 110 pounds, I was determined to make changes to my frame. I spent hours in the gym, watching others lift, lifting myself, trying different things, and experimenting with different exercises. I read about lifting. I talked to others about it. And before long I realized that I was making rapid gains in my strength.
I left my college gym and joined a local La Fitness, where a national level bodybuilder approached me and asked me if I had ever considered competing in a newer division of physique showing at the amateur level- figure. I was unfamiliar with figure- it was relatively new, but I read up on Jenny Lynn, who pioneered figure with her amazing physique display at the GNC Show of Strength. After viewing what she had done with her body, I decided to enter my first show- a local NABBA show.
Under the guidance of my friend Mark, the bodybuilder who first approached me, I undertook my first contest diet. I loved watching my body change, watching my muscles striate, and learning about how the manipulation of food and nutrients could spark such drastic changes in your physique.
I decided I wanted to compete in the NPC. I took two years off to put some much needed muscle on my frame and to work on balancing out my strong legs with my dominant upper body. In November of 2007 I entered the NPC Mountain Valley, a national qualifier, and not only won my class, but won the overall figure title as well!
It is my future goal to continue to compete actively at the NPC National Level until I acheive my pro card in figure”    Alli

MARY ELIZABETH LADO BIOGRAPHY
bandw-headshot Mary Elizabeth Lado | IFBB Ms. Figure International Champion figurelinksI was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 16,1978 and raised in Metairie, Louisiana. I have two brothers, Jose 22 and Carlos 20. If you wonder, “Why such Spanish names?” My mother Marianela is from Cuba and my father Jose Ramon is from Spain.

Since the age of nine I began to play sports such as volleyball, basketball, track, soccer, and softball. Growing up I couldn’t help but to be a tomboy with my two brothers. I
n my middle school years and up through high school I won many district titles. Once graduating from high school I earned an athletic scholarship to Chipola Junior College to play fast pitch softball for two years. As a pitcher, I was nicknamed “Scary Mary” due to the fact that you would never know where the pitch was going to end up. Academically I earned an associate of arts in physical education and Who’s Who Among American Junior Colleges.

oxygen Mary Elizabeth Lado | IFBB Ms. Figure International Champion figurelinksI then moved on to receive an athletic scholarship in softball to finish my studies at Georgia Southwestern State University. When I completed my softball years I was then an assistant coach in softball to finish my bachelors in sociology. When my college days were over it was back to Louisiana. There I began to fool around with weights on a daily basis as a hobby or sport. I met a bodybuilder who asked me if I ever thought about competing. I never really new there was such a thing? I watched my first figure competition that summer in 2002 and decided I wanted to try it. I always admired the toned athletes.

vyotech1 Mary Elizabeth Lado | IFBB Ms. Figure International Champion figurelinksI did my first show in New Orleans in 2003, where I placed 1st in the tall class. I then did the NPC Louisiana and got second, the NPC Greater Gulf States was my last local show where I placed 1st and overall. My final show that year was the NPC National Figure Championships. Let’s just say I took that as a learning experience.

My goal the following year was to be a professional figure competitor. I aimed for the NPC Junior Nationals and NPC National Figure Championships that year in 2004. I placed second at Junior Nationals and won 1st place in the tall class at NPC National Figure Championships and overall. Thanks to the support of my family my dream was now a reality.

My first year as an IFBB Pro was in 2005 and I made my pro debut at the Arnold Classic’s Figure International and I was honored to place third. Next up was the IFBB Pittsburgh and California Pro Figure contests and I won them both! Winning two pro shows in my first year as an IFBB Pro was something that I would have never expected. I was in shock and totally excited about it. Of course you always train to win, but with the caliber of girls that these shows had, you would think that the possibility of winning would be far off. Coming off of two wins and getting ready for the 2005 IFBB Figure Olympia was a great advantage. Needless to say I was fighting an uphill battle getting ready for the Olympia. It seemed like one thing followed after another. I was in Spain for two weeks when I got news that Hurricane Katrina was going to hit home. I was petrified and worried the whole time because my mother, brother, and dog were going to ride out the storm the whole way through. Not hearing from them for 4 days after the storm had struck just added to my worries. In the end, my mom made it out fine. Since my necessities, the gym and grocery store, were damaged, I was getting ready for the Figure Olympia at a friends house two hours from New Orleans. I went through with getting ready for the Olympia. I did not want to give up on a dream to compete in the biggest show ever. Who knows if I would ever be able to again? The way that I looked for the Olympia did not impress me, it upset me. This was a wake-up call for me. I was determined to come around for the 2006 IFBB Figure International at the Arnold Classic and show myself and my fans that I could do it. I got a new trainer which in turn changed my whole diet and training. This changed my body in a matter of three months to be able to win the 2006 IFBB Figure International, the second biggest title in our sport. I could not help but cry when I won. The three hard months of dieting and training like never before paid off. Now I am focused on the 2006 IFBB Figure Olympia.

I currently work as a Personal Trainer when I am not competing & I am also an endorsed athlete for VyoTech Nutritionals & make appearances on their behalf.
